The 20th (Boulder County) Judicial District Attorney's Office is seeking to hire a Director of Victim Witness. The Director of Victim Witness is the management level classification in the Victim Witness series. The Director of Victim Witness supervises the Victim Witness Unit which includes a team of Victim Witness Assistants, Victim Witness Specialists, VALE Administrator, and the Crime Victim Compensation Administrator. The position involves further developing and coordinating quality programs and services for crime victims and their complex needs. Additionally, the Director continues to provide direct services to victims and witnesses. This position reports to the Assistant District Attorney.
This is a full-time, benefited position with the 20th Judicial District Attorney’s Office -Boulder County. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with some evening and weekend required, as needed. This position will work at the Boulder County Justice Center, located at 1777 6th St., Boulder, CO 80302. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

- Oversees, administers, and manages all Unit services provided to victims and witnesses, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations—including the Victims' Rights Act (VRA)—with support from the Deputy Director.
- Accountable for the successful day-to-day operations of the Unit. Directs and oversees all victim service programs and their components based on research, planning, organization development, effective implementation processes, and staff training
- Collaborates with the Deputy Director to supervise and motivate team members, ensuring they work efficiently and effectively both as team players and service providers.
- Provides leadership, supervision, training, and technical assistance to staff. Available for one-on-one check-ins with all team members
- Provides essential job functions of a Victim Witness Specialist and manages a partial caseload. Takes responsibility as a back-up team member for the Unit
- Creates or expands on the existing policy and procedure manual that outlines the Unit's responsibilities, services, and functions
- Oversees VALE and VOCA grant management, and Crime Victim Compensation programmatic services and funding. Works in collaboration with staff to ensure narrative and fiscal reports are submitted to funders in an accurate and timely manner. Manages and monitors the project budget forecasting and tracking, and completes various quarterly, semi-annual, and annual performance reports
- Maintains statistics for victim contacts and services. Ensures program quality and sustainability by developing annual goals and outcome-based performance measures in response to community and program needs. Creates or utilizes existing tools to track and successfully implement the Unit's goals and progress
- Provides subject matter expertise as it relates to management and programmatic services. Creates and updates educational and outreach materials, as well as automated notifications and letters to victims
- Collaborates with external partners to provide a continuum of support for victims and witnesses. Attends and facilitates meetings for outreach and professional networking purposes. Works closely with the Unit to maintain and strengthen relationships with community partners
- Attends meetings, conferences, functions, events, and other job-related events as required. Facilitates monthly unit meetings and seeks input from team members on meeting agendas. Attends monthly support staff management meetings
- Performs related work, as required
- May be reassigned in emergency situations
