Boulder County Public Works Department is seeking to hire an Apprentice Electrician. The Apprentice Electrician is the entry-level classification in the Electrician series. The Electrician performs a variety of unskilled and skilled electrical duties in the construction, remodel and maintenance of buildings and facilities.
This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm. This position will work out of 2525 13th St., Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $60,840.00 - $74,178.00 Annually

Preferred Qualifications
Back and Upper Body (lifting): Constantly lift with one or two hands tools and parts weighing 1-30 lbs. from floor to waist. This lift and those below are done with one or two hands. Frequently lift tools and parts weighing 30-80 lbs. from floor to shoulder. Occasionally lift parts weighing 60-80 lbs., and over from floor to shoulder, with co-workers. Occasional push and pull average 100 lb. force using various jacks and supporting devices.
Hands and Arms: Must have strength and dexterity in both arms and both hands for constant use of all tools, including hammers, wrenches, and power tools of all sizes for long periods of time each day. Frequently spend time with arms overhead while lying under equipment, or arms extended with body leaning on equipment, or kneeling to the area being repaired (example of this would be taking brake shoes off using a 12 lb. impact or socket wrench). Occasionally disassemble and assemble various auto parts on work surfaces 35 inches high or at ground level.
Body Movement: Constantly stand, kneel, or lie on concrete floor. Must work in unusual positions, depending on the job being done. Frequently climb on and under equipment while carrying tools and parts weighing 1-30 lbs. Occasionally work out of shop on equipment broken down at job site or on roads in inclement weather.

- Performs routine electrical work on construction and remodel projects such as installing conduit, electrical boxes, motors, receptacles, switches, light fixtures, and pulling cables
- Assists in installation and maintenance of electrical systems such as security and fire alarm systems, energy management systems, card access systems, computer and telephone systems
- Performs electrical demolition work, including removing old wire and electrical equipment
- Responds to work orders for electrical repairs and installations
- May schedule work and estimate time and materials
