Assistant Swim Coach
Job Summary:
Boulder Country Club is seeking motivated, professional individuals to serve as Assistant Swim Coaches for our youth summer swim team. In this role, you will support the Head Swim Coach in delivering gold-standard instruction while fostering a fun, safe, and competitive environment for swimmers of all ages. Our goal is to ensure every participant develops proper technique, respect for the sport, and a lifelong love of swimming.
- Reports to: Head Swim Coach
- Rate of Pay: $17.00 – $21.00 per hour
- Employment Type: Part-time / Seasonal (Late May – mid-September) or Part-time / Year-round
- Hours: 20 – 30 hours per week during the summer season
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Practice Design & Execution: Independently design and lead daily, weekly, and seasonal practice plans that support the overarching curricula established by the Head Coach, ensuring high-quality instruction while tailoring workouts to specific swimmer needs.
- Technical Coaching: Provide advanced instruction in all four competitive strokes for both team practices and private/semi-private lessons.
- Feedback & Motivation: Provide ongoing technical feedback and motivation to swimmers to meet individual and team goals.
- Swimmer Safety: Ensure the absolute safety of all participants during practices, swim meets, and extracurricular team events.
- Meet Support: Attend all scheduled swim meets and work with the Head Coach to organize and oversee extracurricular team activities.
- Communication: Maintain prompt and professional communication with members, parents, and coworkers regarding progress and schedules.
- Operational Tasks: Complete designated operational tasks and assist in maintaining the facility's professional standards.
- Exemplary Conduct: Model the highest standards of professional etiquette and strictly enforce BCC House Rules of Conduct.
- Team Environment: Help establish a positive team culture focused on sportsmanship, camaraderie, and a "growth mindset."
- Staff Development: Participate in ongoing training and meetings led by the Head Coach to maintain departmental excellence.
Education and Experience:
- Experience: Previous swim coaching and instruction experience is required.
- Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of stroke techniques and athlete development.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches (or Lifeguard Training equivalency)
- Concussion Management Training
- State of CO Child Welfare Mandatory Reporting (within 30 days of hire)
