Position Overview:

We are seeking a Full-Time Unit Clerk to support the day-to-day administrative and clerical operations of our Medical/Surgical Unit. This position plays a key role in maintaining smooth communication and documentation flow between departments, clinical staff, and patients. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing excellent support in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the communication hub for the Medical/Surgical unit, handling phone calls, messages, and coordination with other departments

• Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors professionally and compassionately

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient charts, medical records, and unit logs

• Transcribe physician orders accurately and in a timely manner

• Input data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system

• Ensure availability of necessary forms, supplies, and equipment for clinical staff

• Support nursing staff in clerical and logistical functions as needed

• Monitor patient assignments and bed tracking systems

• Uphold patient confidentiality and hospital standards in all communications

• Able to enter data into the electronic medical records (EMR), order entry, medication entry into OMAR and monitor telemetry activity

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Previous experience as a Unit Clerk or in a healthcare administrative role preferred

• Proficiency with computers, data entry, and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel)

• Familiarity with medical terminology and EHR systems strongly preferred

• Telemetry Certification REQUIRED

• Excellent organizational and communication skills

• Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure in a clinical setting
