About The Role

The Pharmacy Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pharmacy department to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services. This leadership role involves strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and the management of pharmacy staff to optimize patient care outcomes. The Pharmacy Director collaborates with healthcare professionals to develop and implement medication management policies and procedures that align with organizational goals. They also monitor budgetary performance and resource allocation to maintain operational excellence. Ultimately, the Pharmacy Director ensures that the pharmacy department operates at the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer service within the healthcare facility.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Current and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive pharmacy experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
• Demonstrated experience in budget management and operational oversight within a healthcare setting.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy information systems.
• Advanced leadership training or certification (e.g., Certified Pharmacy Executive).
• Experience working in a hospital or large healthcare system environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the pharmacy team, including pharmacists, technicians, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
• Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Oversee medication procurement, storage, dispensing, and inventory management to ensure accuracy and availability of pharmaceuticals.
• Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to optimize medication therapy management and patient safety initiatives.
• Manage the pharmacy budget, including forecasting, cost control, and resource allocation to support departmental goals.
• Ensure continuous quality improvement through monitoring performance metrics, conducting audits, and addressing any identified issues.
• Stay current with advancements in pharmacy practice, technology, and regulatory changes to guide departmental innovation and compliance.
• Provide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for pharmacy staff to enhance skills and knowledge.
