What You Will Do:

The Student Recruitment and Partnerships Manager will be part of the externally facing team at Bottom Line. The Manager will support the Access Program Director by representing Bottom Line in the communities we serve and identifying and recruiting students who are eligible to work with Bottom Line. In support of these core purposes, the Manager will maintain relationships with school-based staff, school district leadership, non-profit organizations, college partners, local leaders, and others in the community who are connected with the youth and the families we serve. In addition, the Manager will both develop and lead educational and/or recruitment-focused presentations to students in the community and organize opportunities for other Bottom Line staff to present as well.

Internally, the Manager will provide leadership in the organization and execution of community outreach and student recruitment activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

Student Recruitment - 60%

  • In collaboration with Program team leadership, develop and oversee Bottom Line’s internal and external strategy for recruiting students through community-based and school-based presentations, and utilize current Bottom Line students to support recruitment of future classes.
  • Work with the Program Directors to identify, plan, and execute high-impact and high-importance recruitment events.
  • Lead or oversee the execution of all outreach activities by personally presenting or by preparing and assigning program staff and Student Recruitment Interns to present.
  • Provide regular updates on student progress to all recruitment partners.
  • Troubleshoot with organizations struggling with their recruitment numbers.
  • Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement in processes and adapt as needed.

External Relationships - 20%

  • Maintain and develop strong communication with external partners.
  • Submit progress report on Bottom Line students to partners twice a year.
  • Respond to inquiries and communicate as needed with community partners.
  • Develop and maintain strong communication with HS guidance counselors and administrators at schools that have the potential for high-impact partnerships, as well as with key staff at partner colleges.
  • Attend professional association conferences and networking events to advertise Bottom Line to potential new partners (High Schools, CBOs).

Team Management – 10%

  • Manage 3-4 part-time student recruitment interns, ensuring that all team members are working effectively and efficiently toward a common goal.
  • Train interns and program staff members on all aspects of student recruitment and intake processes.
  • Create a cohesive team culture by being available, approachable, and providing management and support that meets the needs of each team member.
  • Ensure staff feel connected to mission while holding team members accountable for achieving goals.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Team Support – 10%

  • Provide Development team with information related to community outreach for grants and other reports.
  • Support the Program team by utilizing relationships with guidance counselors and other community partners to resolve student issues and share information across organizations.
  • Support the Program team as needed, including event support.
  • If needed, support the Development team by attending events, networking with guests / supporters, and providing event logistics.
  • Represent the Bottom Line brand in a positive light and take actions to increase brand awareness throughout the community.

Work Schedule:

10:00 am to 6:00 pm, with additional hours as needed

Direct Reports:

1 – 3 Student Recruitment Interns

Expected Travel:

35% – Frequent local travel required during the recruitment period from January-June

  • Bachelor’s degree and work authorization
  • An ability to deliver high-energy, engaging presentations to different stakeholders
  • Polished and authentic presence, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and a customer service orientation
  • Ability to approach situations strategically and to problem solve creatively
  • Strong analytic skills and the ability to leverage data to inform process and results
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to Bottom Line’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values

Preferred:

  • 2 – 3 years of project management experience, ideally in non-profit environments
  • Knowledge of New York City’s non-profit and educational community a plus
