Technical Writer
Contract: 12 Months
Location: Spartanburg, SC
Client: Direct Client
We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to create, organize, and standardize IT documentation supporting cybersecurity, IT operations, incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, operational procedures, system/application documentation, and knowledge articles.
- Translate complex technical information and SME discussions into clear, accurate documentation.
- Create workflows, process maps, diagrams, and technical visuals using Microsoft Visio.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, IT SMEs, and leadership to document processes and technical environments.
- Review and validate documentation for accuracy, consistency, and quality.
- Establish documentation templates, standards, naming conventions, and lifecycle practices.
- Manage documentation using Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of technical writing experience in complex IT/technology environments.
- Bachelor s degree in Technical Communication, English, IT, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint.
- Strong Microsoft Visio skills for diagrams and process documentation.
- Experience creating SOPs, runbooks, system documentation, and operational procedures.
- Strong editing, organization, information architecture, and quality-control skills.
- Ability to work directly with technical SMEs across IT, infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, or service delivery.
Preferred
- CPTC, ITIL Foundation, or similar certification.
- Experience with cybersecurity, disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT service management.
- Experience with documentation recovery, knowledge management, or documentation standardization.
- SharePoint documentation library and metadata experience.
- Familiarity with ITIL, NIST, or CIS frameworks.
- Government or regulated-environment experience.
Salary : $45 - $48
