Role Summary
Boswell is seeking a Design Engineer to join its Highways team, supporting the design of municipal, county, and state transportation projects. This role involves working with AutoCAD/Civil 3D to develop roadway designs, including alignment, grading, drainage, and traffic elements, while collaborating under the guidance of senior engineers. The position offers a mix of office-based design work and occasional field exposure through construction site inspections, providing hands -on experience across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Ideally, this Engineer will be a graduate civil, structural, or environmental engineer and has passed or will pass the Engineer-in-Training exam within the first 3 years of employment.
- The facets of design include horizontal and vertical alignment calculations, superelevation design, grading, guide rail design, and pavement design, drainage design consisting of both hydraulic and hydrologic design of pipes, ditches, and streams traffic studies
- Traffic signal design, and recreation projects varying from baseball, football, and soccer fields, both natural and artificial turf, to parks and playgrounds.
- Utilize AutoCAD as a tool for design and will work under the direct supervision of a professional engineer.
- In addition to design experience in the office the Design Engineer will also be required to spend several weeks each year on construction sites performing construction inspection of various types of transportation projects, typically at the municipal or county level.
- Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- BS in Civil Engineering with 2 years of relevant highway design experience
- Solid experience and skills in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D are required.

Pay Transparency: In accordance with local law, the range below is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Actual compensation will vary based on specific relevant experience, education, certifications, and other compensable factors.
- Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 / Year
