FULL-TIME – 40 hours per week

Weekly rotating shifts:

9 AM – 5 PM for four days (MON-FRI) and 8 AM - 4 PM SAT

9 AM – 5 PM MON-FRI

11:30 AM – 7:30 PM MON-FRI

JOB INFORMATION:

The packing department is the most dynamic and multifunctional of our various production departments. Almost all new employees begin in this department for training. From the vantage point of the packing department, one gets the best understanding regarding medications and operations.

In compliance with Company, contracted site, and local, state, and federal rules, the packing department is the second step in the workflow to accurately, efficiently, and safely provide prescription medications to populations in long-term care facilities in PA and/or nationally.

Each packing pharmacy technician pulls medications from shelves or bins to be labeled for an individual patient while ensuring accuracy of the medication, dosage, and quantity. Hand-packing of a medication order may be required on occasion. Work must be completed by the daily cut-off time by which all prescription requests must be processed and sent. Production and error metrics are collected and viewed to guide operational and staffing decisions.

Candidates with a current valid PA pharmacy technician certification will get priority consideration. Candidates without a current valid PA pharmacy technician certification may still be considered. However, certification is required before one can work as a packer.

Candidates with experience as a pharmacy technician, either in a retail or a closed-door facility, will get priority consideration. Medical experience may be helpful if that experience provided a familiarity with medications.

The starting pay rate for this job function is considered competitive. Candidates with successful pharmacy technician experience of a year or more will be offered a higher rate. Determination of the success of prior relevant experience is based on information from professional reference checks.

This job requires the incumbent to stand 100% of their work time at their station except when moving to collect labels, retrieve or return supplies, and place completed work as directed. This job also requires bending, crouching, and reaching to gather medications and supplies.

All employees are required to assist with the cleanliness and organization of the general work area as well as one’s own space.
