Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our client's team and support the custom home sales department. The Estimator will play a crucial role in accurately assessing the costs associated with building custom homes, providing essential financial insights to our sales team, and ensuring that projects are priced accurately based on specifications and plans prior to contracting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation: Utilize your financial background and construction industry knowledge to accurately estimate the costs of materials, labor, and other expenses associated with custom home construction projects.
2. Collaboration: Work closely with the custom home sales team to provide timely and accurate cost estimates for potential projects, assisting in the development of comprehensive proposals for clients.
3. Budget Management: Assist in the development and tracking of project budgets, providing ongoing analysis and recommendations to ensure projects remain within financial parameters.
4. Vendor and Supplier Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
5. Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost-saving measures without compromising quality, offering innovative solutions to optimize project budgets.
6. Documentation: Prepare detailed cost estimates, reports, and documentation to support project proposals, contracts, and ongoing project management efforts.
7. Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, material costs, and industry developments to provide accurate and up-to-date cost estimates and recommendations.
8. Quality Assurance: Work collaboratively with project managers and construction teams to review project plans and specifications, ensuring accuracy in estimating processes.
9. Change Orders: provide assistance with change orders as needed.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction cost estimation in the custom home building industry.
2. Strong financial acumen with a solid understanding of construction costs, budgeting, and financial analysis.
3. Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools to assist in cost calculations.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with sales, construction and management.
5. Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex construction plans and specifications.
6. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
7. Experience as a construction estimator in the greater San Antonio, Texas area is required
