What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Director, Data Analysis Solutions position at BostonGene?
Associate Director, Data Analysis Solutions
BG Foundation Model Initiative
About BostonGene
BostonGene is a precision oncology company focused on translating complex biological and clinical data into actionable insights for drug development and patient stratification. We operate at the intersection of computational biology, multi-omics, immune profiling, and AI, working with biopharma partners and internal product teams to accelerate biomarker discovery, clinical trial enablement, and evidence generation.
About the BG Foundation Model Initiative
BostonGene is building a next-generation foundation model for biomedicine designed to learn unified representations across multiple modalities—tissue and peripheral blood, genomics and transcriptomics, immune profiling, imaging-derived features, and clinical context—so it can generalize across diseases and clinical states. The goal is to enable “digital representations” of patients that support downstream applications such as biomarker development, patient stratification for clinical trials, response prediction, disease monitoring, and partner-specific translational workflows. The program emphasizes scalable data harmonization, robust evaluation/benchmarking, and deployment-ready engineering for real-world pharma use.
Why Join BostonGene?
This is a unique opportunity to help define how foundation models are applied to oncology and immunology while working at the intersection of biology, AI, and drug development. The successful candidate will work with world-class multimodal datasets, collaborate with leading biopharma organizations, and contribute directly to technologies that influence drug development and precision medicine.
About the Role
We are hiring an Associate Director, Data Analysis Solutions, to own the technical architecture that turns oncology and immunology science into deployable solutions within the BG Foundation Model initiative. This is a hands-on role for a PhD scientist who builds—fluent in the biology of cancer and the immune system, deep in modern omics data, and able to own a technology initiative end-to-end across research, engineering, and product. You will stay close to the data day-to-day while providing the scientific and technical direction that moves the program forward.
What You’ll Do
- Be actively, hands-on involved in projects day-to-day—not a hands-off architect.
- Prepare reports and analyses, and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide scientific and technical direction to the team.
- Review data and analytical outputs, and perform the analysis yourself when needed.
- Own the technical direction and delivery of cross-functional initiatives, from concept through production.
- Architect end-to-end solutions integrating multi-omics data and ML/AI into BostonGene’s platform.
- Translate immuno-oncology biology into technical requirements and system design.
- Evaluate and de-risk emerging methods, including biology foundation models.
- Serve as the science–technology interface for internal teams and biopharma partners.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, immunology, genomics, or a related field.
- 3 years of hands-on data science experience (post-PhD).
- Deep, hands-on experience with at least one of: bulk and/or single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics/imaging, or digital pathology (H&E).
- Working knowledge of oncology and immunology.
- Demonstrated ownership of a technology project end-to-end.
- Scientific track record (peer-reviewed publications).
- Proven ability to work in and drive cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with biology foundation models (genomics, transcriptomics, or pathology).
- Experience deploying models or analyses into production environments.
- Experience with multi-modal data harmonization and benchmarking/evaluation.
- Experience working with pharmaceutical or biotechnology partners in translational research, biomarker development, clinical development, or precision medicine settings.
