What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral fellow postdoctoral associate position at Boston University?
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to focus on the molecular biology of melanocyte stem cells and/or melanoma. The main goal of the Lang Laboratory at Boston University is to determine the molecular mechanism of stem cell maintenance, multipotential, and giving rise to differentiated cells, and how these same pathways are subverted in melanoma growth, survival, and metastasis. This candidate will have opportunities for in vitro and in vivo studies in melanoma cancer research. These projects include molecular biology, histology and histopathology, genetic cistromics and transcriptomics, bioinformatics, protein biology, and mouse models. Representative publications from the lab include Moore, S.P.G. et al, Genes 2025 16:577, Huang, L., 2021 Cancer Research 81:2071, Kubic, J.D. et al., Oncogene 2015 34:(38)4964, JBC 2015 290:(36)21901, and others. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, cancer biology, or related field. Candidates also must have a track-record of productivity, an ability to interact with a team, be able to think critically, and be able to work independently. Candidates should be able to perform basic techniques in cell culture, molecular biology and DNA cloning, and experience with any of the following is a strength: cistromics/transcriptomics, bioinformatics, and/or mouse husbandry. Most projects require a mouse model component. There will be opportunities for scientific writing, experimental design, and presentations; these activities are also required as part of this position. Preference will be given to candidates with less than 2 years of postdoctoral experience.
Requirements for application: Applicants need to be in the continental U.S. and available for an in-person interview. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in a related field. In addition, three documents 1) a CV, 2) a short statement outlining the interest in this position and future career goals, and 3) contact information for at least three references should be forwarded to Dr. Deborah Lang, deblang@bu.edu. Boston University is an equal opportunity employer.
