WBUR is in the middle of a five-year multimillion-dollar comprehensive fundraising campaign that will enable WBUR to invest in content, people and innovation. The Membership & Development team is responsible for building and sustaining WBUR’s community of supporters. Through fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, and special initiatives, they help secure the financial resources that make our independent journalism possible. From one-time gifts to major contributions, this team fosters meaningful relationships with listeners and partners who believe in WBUR’s mission and impact.
The Donor Relations Coordinator supports the organization’s fundraising and membership goals by providing an engaging, comprehensive and exemplary donor experience through addressing inquiries, managing membership accounts, providing information on programs and events, and facilitating smooth communications between members, donors, and internal teams. They build relationships with WBUR donors and members by serving as a primary point of contact and responding with promptness, courtesy & knowledge, encouraging sustained and increased giving. The ideal candidate will be able to work both independently and as a collaborative member of the Membership team. They will be highly organized, a flexible and creative thinker, and attentive to detail. This role reports to the Donor Relations Manager.

Key Responsibilities
40% Donor and Member Relations
- Engage donors and members through:
- Responding promptly and professionally to donor and member inquiries.
- Informing them about WBUR programs, events, and fundraising campaigns to build the relationship beyond their contribution.
- Resolve high volume of incoming requests by phone, mail, email, and web portal.
- Identify member account and communication challenges proactively and solve or escalate to Donor Relations Manager as needed.
- Assist with membership account management, including processing new memberships, renewals, cancellations, and donor questions or concerns about contributions and membership benefits.
- Collaborate with teams across WBUR to provide seamless donor experiences and services.
- Regularly audit member and donor records to maintain accurate and up to date records and improve WBURs fiscal-planning ability.
- Utilize database reporting to assist the Donor Relations Manager in optimizing the donor experience and increase revenue.
- Monitor database issues and highlight recurring patterns to improve operations. Collaborate with team members to identify solutions.
- Gather and analyze donor feedback to identify trends, inform fundraising strategy, donor communication and membership program development. Provide recommendations when appropriate.
- Identify and propose customer service projects for the department’s part-time student team to the Donor Relations Manager and assist in training students and ensuring project completion.
- Support timely stewardship and assist in preparation and distribution of membership and donor communications including gift acknowledgement and thank-you letters, newsletters, and event invitations.
- Support thank-you post card process by pulling reports, completing mail merges, and ensuring fulfillment as required.
- Assist with coordinating member engagement activities and events.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree and 1 – 3 years’ experience, or equivalent/relevant experience.
- A genuine passion for WBUR’s cause and mission.
- Previous member service and fundraising experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Friendly, professional demeanor with a genuine interest in helping donors and members.
- Ability to manage multiple inquiries simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Comfortable using database systems and basic office software.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
