SY 26/27 Music Teacher

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Teach music and choral classes to grades K-6

• Implement a rigorous and balanced standards-based music curriculum including knowledge of vocal development

• Employ pedagogical methods that motivate students to purse instrumental study

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

• Demonstrate flexibility and compassion, while maintaining high expectations for student achievement

• Demonstrate strong classroom management skills

• Employ instructional methods that motivate students to continue to pursue study in the music community

• Collaborate with school faculty to develop interdisciplinary curriculum

• Organize and participate in school level music performances

• Contribute to departmental and school wide curriculum projects and other initiatives

• Steward the careful use of supplies, equipment, and teaching resources

• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

• Assist w/ Arrival and Dismissal

Qualifications

• Must hold a bachelor’s degree   

• Must meet federal requirements and highly qualified status for Massachusetts charter school educators

• Two or more years of classroom teaching experience in urban setting preferred

• Must be able to play piano

• Must be proficient in teaching piano to students on different levels

• Must be able to play piano in the different genres of music (i.e. classical, contemporary, choral, gospel, jazz, etc.)

Preferred

• Master’s degree in preferred

• General Music certification K-6

• Motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written

Salary : $61,115 - $103,000
