What are the responsibilities and job description for the STIPEND OPPORTUNITY: Generation Citizen Civic Action Project Teacher Leader (High School) (SY26-27) position at Boston Public Schools?

Role:
BPS History/Social Science is seeking three teacher leaders to pilot and provide feedback on the Generation Citizen Civic Action Project Curriculum module (25 lessons) in order to improve teaching and learning experiences of the Civic Action Project in grades 9-12.
Responsibilities:
- Attend the 16 hours of professional learning during the school day provided by Generation Citizen (location and date options are available. Teachers choose which date and location works best for them) These initial 16 hours are not compensated with a stipend because they take place during contractual working hours.
- Implement the 25 lesson curriculum as part of the BPS Pacing Guide for World II
- Provide feedback and student work samples to the BPS History / Social Science Department Program Directors
- Participate in 1.5 total hours of 1:1 curriculum coaching (coaching is in 30 minute increments) during the implementation of the modules between April of 2027 and May of 2027. 1:1 coaching is available, but not required, to educators throughout the entire school year in 30 minute increments, bi-weekly.
Deliverables:
- Completion of curriculum implementation (all 25 lessons)
- Participation in the 1:1 coaching with Generation Citizen between April and May
- Complete module feedback (1:1, written and/or in focus group)
- Collect samples of student work
Compensation:
Teacher leaders will be compensated at the BTU Hourly rate of $60.58, for up to 10 hours of work, which includes:
-1:1 coaching outside of school hours
-1:1 or focus group check-in’s with BPS Program Directors to provide feedback on the curriculum
Desired Qualifications:
Applicants should have:
- Experience implementing BPS-supported curriculum with integrity (able to implement the curriculum in ways that maintain critical elements of the curriculum AND make appropriate adjustments to be responsive to students).
- Experience teaching US I or US II for 2 years
- Experience or understanding of Universal Design for Learning 3.0, Culturally Responsive & Sustaining Instructional Practices, Academic Language Instruction & Support, and/or Specially Designed Instruction.
