INDIVIDUALS WISHING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION MUST COMPLETE THE CIVIL SERVICE LABOR SERVICE REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR THE POSITION AT https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/massachusetts IN ADDITION TO COMPLETING THE CITY OF BOSTON CAREER CENTER APPLICATION.
Under general supervision, operates and has responsibility for one of a wide variety of heavy motor equipment not requiring a special license (other than a Commercial Driver's License) or unusual skill, such as dump trucks, street sweepers, snow plows, sanders, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Operate light and heavy motorized and hydraulic equipment such as heavy trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, tractors, sweepers, pavers, rollers, bucket trucks, and other equipment.
- Perform some routine and skilled laboring duties at intermediate levels.
- Prepare routine records, logs, and reports.
- Respond to daily inquiries, requests, and complaints from residents, contractors, etc.
- Operate snow plowing, removal, sanding, and salting equipment.
- Maintain work areas in a clean, safe, and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations.
- Respond to and handle Constituent Relationship Management cases.
- May use mobile technology to communicate with supervisors and inspectors regarding Constituent Relationship Management cases.
- Support other Public Works Divisions as requested.
- Perform related work as required.
Required to work all emergencies as directed by the Commissioner.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
- Must possess any and all licenses required by the Mass. Dept. of Public Safety to operate any heavy motor equipment, including a valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
- Applicants must be available to work any assigned shift in any assigned area.
