For 15 years, the Boston Music Project has provided music-based Creative Youth Development programming to thousands of Boston youth. Our team of over 70 diverse teaching artists provides weekly music education to over 2,500 PreK-12th grade students across 32 Boston schools each year. BMP before, after, and in-school programs provide students with the resources and support to unleash their musical creativity through strings, brass, woodwinds, voice piano, and digital music instruction while fostering their social-emotional skills to find success in music, school, and life. Role Description

The Finance Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Boston, MA, with a mix of on-site and work-from-home responsibilities. This role oversees day-to-day financial operations, including managing accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll data, and maintaining accurate financial records. The Finance Manager prepares budgets and forecasts, monitors cash flow, and supports grant and program reporting through financial analysis. Additional responsibilities include coordinating audits, supporting compliance with non-profit financial regulations, preparing monthly and annual financial statements, and collaborating with leadership to inform strategic financial decisions. This role manages a part-time registrar position.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in non-profit finance or accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar), spreadsheets, and general ledger management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with grant management, audits, and compliance in a non-profit environment.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; relevant professional certifications are a plus.
  • Interest in arts, education, or youth development and alignment with BMP’s mission and values.


Compensation:

  • Rate: Salary $65,000-$80,000
  • Benefits: Four weeks of paid vacation. Full-time employees are eligible for health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.
