What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Director of Strategic Supply Chain position at Boston Dynamics?
As the Senior Director of Strategic Supply Chain, you will lead the development, implementation, and management of global sourcing strategies designed to provide Boston Dynamics with optimal flexibility, quality, and supply assurance.
This is a "Best Practice" leadership role that demands a balance of high-level strategy and tactical execution. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of supply, from navigating complex geopolitical sourcing shifts and government subsidy landscapes to ensuring high-precision material delivery to our manufacturing lines. You must possess the ability to think both strategically and tactically, operate independently, and drive business continuity in an ever-changing global environment.
Key Responsibilities
High-Level Strategy & Sourcing: Design and implement a robust, portable, and scalable global supply chain. This includes developing sourcing strategies that de-risk our dependency on volatile regions and emphasize long-term "friend-shoring" or near-shoring opportunities.
Government Subsidy & Policy Integration: Proactively identify and leverage government subsidy strategies (e.g., CHIPS Act, R&D credits, and green energy incentives) to offset capital expenditures and drive regional manufacturing advantages.
Business Continuity & Resilience: Lead the design and execution of a global Business Continuity Plan (BCP). You will identify Tier 2/3 vulnerabilities and implement "antifragile" protocols to ensure supply remains uninterrupted by natural disasters, trade wars, or market shifts.
Team Leadership: Organize and grow a world-class team consisting of Commodity Managers, NPI Sourcing, and Demand Planning.
Strategic Negotiations: Lead supplier selections and execute RFPs for complicated electro-mechanical assemblies. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and MOQs that protect Boston Dynamics’ interests while fostering deep, collaborative vendor partnerships.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D, Engineering, and Quality to identify supply risks and cost opportunities early in the product design phase.
Planning & Execution: Participate in long-range planning and budget development. Establish workflows in collaboration with IT to enhance real-time visibility across the supply network.
Desired Skills & Experience
The base pay range for this position is between $192,000 to $255,000 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Boston Dynamics offers a generous Benefits package including medical, dental vision, 401(k), paid time off and a annual bonus structure. Additional details regarding these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer for employment.
