Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Account Manager to support and grow our academic customer base across New England. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about the scientific research community and enjoys building strong, lasting relationships. You will be responsible for managing and expanding a territory that includes established accounts while actively cultivating new opportunities within academic institutions.

Responsibilities List (included but not limited to):
- Manage and grow relationships with academic accounts exclusively across the New England region.
- Sell and promote both catalog and custom buffer solutions
- Develop and execute a strategic territory plan to expand market presence and achieve sales targets.
- Build strong partnerships with researchers, lab managers, procurement teams, and other key stakeholders.
- Identify new business opportunities and nurture them through the full sales cycle.
- Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and communicate solutions effectively.
- Travel throughout New England to meet with customers, attend events, and support account development.
- Prepare quotations and sales reports by using CRM and ERP systems.
- Communicate with customers regarding order status, product availability, and delivery schedules.
- Support the sales team with reviewing deals, editing quotes, and maintaining client records.
- Coordinate with other departments such as logistics, accounting, and customer operations to ensure smooth order fulfillment.
- Build a rapport with customers to increase run-rate business and ensure growth of the customer base.
- Promote attendance for events (conferences, webinars, seminars) and send follow-up to attendees.
- Travel and represent Boston BioProducts at customer visits and conferences/events.
- Increase knowledge of BBP products and services, customer segments, and buyer personas.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Biochemistry or a related area.
Experience:
- 1–3 years of sales experience preferred, but not required; we welcome motivated candidates with a strong interest in sales and the scientific community.
- Familiarity with academic research environments or calling on scientific academia is a plus.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a field-based role.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of sales processes (prospecting, quoting, customer engagement) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems
- Familiarity with cell culture and molecular biology techniques and workflows used in R&D, Diagnostics, and Manufacturing is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to travel around buildings and lift at least 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time (customer meetings and events)
