Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment and automotive repair, with the ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of diesel engines and related systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse machinery, including farm equipment, industrial machinery, and vehicle fleets, ensuring optimal performance and safety across operations.
Duties
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brakes.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, alignment, and shock & strut replacement.
- Fabricate and modify parts using hand tools, welding, soldering, and power tools as needed.
- Repair heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery.
- Read and interpret schematics for complex mechanical systems to facilitate accurate repairs.
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure all work complies with safety standards.
- Assist in assembly and disassembly of equipment components for repairs or upgrades.
- Perform vehicle maintenance on tractor-trailers and farm machinery to ensure operational efficiency.
- Support customer service efforts by providing technical advice and ensuring timely repairs.
Skills
- Proven experience in dealership or heavy equipment repair with a solid understanding of automotive diagnostics.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures including brake repair, alignment, shocks & struts replacement.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering for custom repairs or modifications.
- Capable of heavy lifting safely and efficiently during maintenance tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong customer service orientation. This position requires a dedicated professional with a comprehensive understanding of diesel mechanics and heavy equipment operation to ensure the safety and efficiency of all machinery maintained within our operations.
