Job Summary:

The Fleet and Dispatch Manager is responsible for overseeing all dispatch operations and driver management for Bosselman Carriers. This role includes overseeing vehicle maintenance and managing the 24/7 fleet operations for all three Bosselman Energy companies. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective, and safe transportation services across the company’s entire fleet of vehicles, trucks, and trailers, while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.


Primary Job Duties:

Financial Oversight

• Accountable for the overall profitability of Bosselman Carriers.

• Lead initiatives to optimize pricing strategies and revenue management.

• Manage and reduce operational costs to improve the bottom line.

• Review monthly financials and truck expense reports to ensure the business is running profitably, be prepared for monthly and quarterly meetings.

• Review and update freight rates and fuel surcharge formula as needed.

• Oversee and approve all bids for freight business.

• Develop methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency.

• Work with Human Resources to review and update driver pay practices as needed.

Operational Leadership

• Dispatch & Scheduling: Coordinate vehicle dispatch to meet delivery deadlines; ensure timely pickups and drop-offs.

• Establishing efficient routes and transportation schedules.

• Manage and oversee the dispatch and business operations and fill in when needed.

• Vehicle Maintenance: Oversee maintenance, repairs, and replacements for all three of Bosselman Energy Companies fleet vehicles to maintain compliance and operational readiness.

• Coordinating Drivers and on-staff maintenance professionals when setting employee schedules.

• Make recommendations for the purchase and sale of equipment.

• Driver Management: Recruit, train, and manage drivers; perform evaluations; address performance issues and implement disciplinary actions as needed.

• Complete bi-weekly payroll for the Carrier’s division.

• Conducting regular site and driver observations, implementing change, and giving feedback when needed.

• Monitoring Drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices.

• Work with Human Resources on recruitment strategies, hiring, and training of Drivers.

• Route Optimization: Plan efficient routes to reduce travel time, fuel consumption, and wear on equipment.


Culture & Employee Development

• Ensure dispatchers and drivers receive thorough and effective training.

• Provide leadership and backup for staff as needed to cover work or shifts if needed. May include weekend work as needed to support the business or staff.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and recommend improvements.

• Provide continuous coaching, support, and mentorship to team members to foster performance and growth.

Compliance & Communication

• Ensure strict adherence to all transportation laws, safety standards, and internal company policies.

• Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, internal departments, and customers to support seamless operations.

Qualifications/Preference:

Education:

• HS diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of truck/trailer experience in a fleet shop environment preferred.

• Working knowledge of heavy-duty vehicles is required.

Certificate, Licenses, Registrations:

• Current Driver’s License required.

• Current Class A CDL License required.

• Hazardous materials endorsement required.

• Tanker endorsement required.


Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

• Ability to read, write, and understand English required.

• Ability to read work orders and truck & trailer specifications required.

• Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities and work with tight deadlines while exercising attention to detail required.

• Computer experience preferred.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, petroleum fumes and/or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places, chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
