Crate builder

Key Responsibilities

• Construct Crates: Measure, cut, and assemble lumber or panel boards using saws, nail guns, drills, and other shop tools.
• Read Blueprints: Interpret technical drawings, cut sheets, or specifications to build crates of the correct dimensions and configuration.
• Secure Cargo: Place, brace, pad, and strap machinery or products safely inside crates.
• Support Shipping: Load and move materials using pallet jacks or forklifts, and assist with labeling or documentation.
• Maintain Safety: Keep the workspace clean and follow all workshop and warehouse safety rules.

Qualifications

• Carpentry Experience: 6 months to 3 years of woodworking, construction, carpentry, or crate-building experience.
• Tool Proficiency: Comfortable using power tools like circular saws, panel saws, pneumatic nail guns, and staple guns.
• Measurement Skills: Ability to read a tape measure accurately and perform basic math.
• Physical Strength: Ability to stand for long periods and regularly lift 50 to 75 pounds. [1, 2, 4, 6]
