Description:
The 45 Ton Crane operator shall operate in the functions of transporting material in Mill with overhead crane in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty and noisy environment. Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
1. Qualifications:
1.1. A High School diploma or equivalent of one year experience with 45 Ton Overhead Crane.
1.2. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
1.3. Manual dexterity required for operating, machinery, hand tools and hand held technical devices.
1.4. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and Overhead Crane operation.
1.5. Employee must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require over-time.
2. Responsibilities:
2.1. Inspect cables or grappling devices for wear and tear.
2.2. Perform a visual inspection before the beginning of the shift and report any issues to Supervisor.
2.3. Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload.
2.4. Clean, lubricate, and maintain mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, or grappling devices, reporting repairs as necessary.
2.5. Review daily work or delivery schedules to determine orders, sequences of deliveries, or special loading instructions.
2.6. Load or unload pipe bundles from and to racks or move containers to storage bins, using 45 ton crane equipment.
2.7. Employe must follow the 5S implementation procedure.
2.8. Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
3. Activities:
3.1. Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
3.2. Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
3.3. Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.
3.4. Check that all machinery is properly serviced before starting up and during shift
3.5. Assists in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.
3.6. Communicate with crew to achieve a quality product.
3.7. Assist in changeovers and Mill stops.

4. Authority and Obligation:
4.1. This position has the authority to stop 45 ton Crane operation at any time that is deemed necessary for reasons of safety, quality, or priority.
