Job Description:

Engineering Draftsmen perform a diverse range of activities at Borsight based on individual professional experience. The hardware engineering group is responsible for the design, development, and integration of avionics, mission systems, and datalink equipment on legacy DoD and FAA certificated aircraft through all phases of the engineering effort including requirements management, research and analysis, system architecture, design reviews, system documentation, test and integration, airworthiness certifications, and production.

In addition, Engineering Draftsmen provide critical program and Technical Data Package support to Borsight Program Managers, as well as work daily with Technical Program Managers.

Borsight’s Director of Engineering maintains all supervisory and administrative control of Engineering Draftsmen.

QQualifications:

Borsight preferers Engineering Draftsmen have 2-4 years of professional experience with an academic degree in electrical or mechanical engineering. Non-degreed Draftsmen should have 8-10 years of commensurate aerospace drafting experience coupled with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, but these qualifications are not all required.

The most qualified Draftsman also have experience working in a defense or federal contractor environment with proven experience with CAD software and tools like SolidWorks Electrical, Altium, MATLAB, Ansys, etc. designing mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical assemblies using industry standard design principles for aeronautical environments.

Aircraft avionics, electrical, or structural experience with design, testing, and documentation, as well as aircraft system development and aircraft integration is also highly desired. Proficiency with MS Office products including Microsoft Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Work daily under US DoD acquisitions, DoD 5000-series guidelines.

· Develop or possess skills to prepare 2D and 3D mechanical assembly and electrical harness drawings using SolidWorks.

· Ability to identify products, wires, components, hardware, etc. to integrate into system designs.

· Develop or possess a skillset to apply working knowledge of aircraft bus interfaces including ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, serial, Ethernet, GPS, and audio.

· Learn, or develop a skillset to support and troubleshoot DoD datalinks and networks such as ARC-210, ARC-231, PRC-117, SADL/EPLRS, Link 16, VORTEX, HPW, SWF, ANW2, and INMARSAT.

· Develop or apply current working knowledge Experience implementing TEMPEST requirements at varying levels of security.

· Develop understanding of DoD and FAA airworthiness standards, testing, and certification, including MIL-STD 461/464, MIL-STD 704, and MIL-STD 810.

· CONUS travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while reviewing documentation or working on a computer, as well as the ability to perform prolonged computer-based tasks such as reading, typing, and digital document review. The position may involve occasional walking, bending, or reaching to access files or materials, and the ability to lift and carry light documents or supplies, typically up to 30–50 pounds. Adequate vision is necessary to read printed and digital technical documents, with or without corrective lenses, and the role requires participation in both in‑person and virtual meetings.

Conditions of Employment:

All Borsight employees serve in positions that have access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), classified information, or are involved in national security, health or safety, or functions other than the foregoing require a high degree of trust and confidence. To that point, all Borsight employees are subject to random facility perimeter control efforts to deter and detect the introduction or removal of classified information from Borsight’s secured facility. This policy, along with conspicuous signage posted throughout Borsight’s facility, serves as legal notice that all employees entering or exiting Borsight’s facility are subject to inspection.

Borsight Engineering Draftsman serve in critical positions that may require an active USG security clearance.

All employees must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check and will be subject to random drug testing throughout employment.
