Job Title: Restaurant Cashier

Job Summary: The Restaurant Cashier is responsible for processing guest transactions, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring accuracy in cash handling and order management. The ideal candidate will have a friendly demeanor, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service:
- Greet customers warmly and provide a welcoming atmosphere.
- Answer customer inquiries regarding menu items, pricing, and specials.
- Assist guests in making selections and take orders accurately.
- Cash Handling:
- Process payments, including cash, credit/debit cards, and other forms of payment.
- Ensure the accuracy of transactions and return the correct change to customers.
- Balance the cash register at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Prepare and issue receipts or change due to customers.
- Order Management:
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure orders are prepared correctly and timely.
- Handle takeout and delivery orders, phone orders, third party delivery service orders, and walk-in customers ensuring all items are packed correctly.
- Address and resolve any discrepancies in orders or payments.
- Inventory and Stock:
- Monitor and replenish supplies at the cashier station.
- Assist with stocking and organizing the front-of-house area as needed.
- Cleanliness and Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and organized cashier area.
- Assist with light cleaning duties as needed, such as wiping down counters or restocking napkins and utensils.
- Compliance and Security:
- Adhere to all restaurant policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Report any suspicious activity or security concerns to management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a cashier or customer service role, preferably in the food service industry.
- Strong math skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to handle occasional exposure to kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and sharp instruments.
