Barista — Boro Café (Coffee & Gelato) | Wilmington, DE

Pay: $15/hour base plus pooled tips. Recently, tips have added about $4.50/hour, bringing take-home pay to roughly $19.50/hour. Tips are pooled and shared by hours worked, so part-time and full-time baristas earn the same rate. Tips do vary with the season, so this is a recent average rather than a guarantee, but it has held steady.

About us: Boro Café is a small, independent neighborhood café in Wilmington serving carefully made coffee and our own Boro gelato. What you'll do:

• Make espresso drinks, lattes, cold brew, teas, and our full menu of specialty coffee beverages to standard
• Deliver warm, genuine hospitality to every guest, regular or first-timer
• Run the register and our Toast POS
• Scoop and serve gelato
• Run food to tables when the kitchen plates up, and pitch in wherever the team needs a hand
• Keep the bar, seating area, and the space behind the counter clean, organized, and inviting
• Restock throughout your shift, cups, lids, dairy, pastries, and supplies, so the next rush never catches the team short
• Jump in and support your teammates during the rush

What we're looking for:

• A positive attitude and real enjoyment of working with people (we will happily train the coffee skills)
• Reliability and punctuality, which matter to us more than anything on a resume
• The ability to stay calm, friendly, and organized when it gets busy
• Prior café or customer-service experience is a plus, not a requirement
• Reliable weekend and closing-shift availability (this is our biggest need right now)
• Flexibility to pick up morning shifts down the road is a plus

Schedule: Part-time and/or full-time. Opening shifts start at 6:00 AM and closing shifts end around 8:30 PM. Our mornings are already well covered by a reliable crew, so we are primarily hiring for mid-day and closing shifts, and more importantly weekend availability. Additional morning shifts may open up heading into the fall, so flexibility across the day is a plus.
