What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dentist position at Borinquen Health Care Center?
Borinquen Medical Centers is seeking to hire a full-time Dentist to join our team. The Dentist is responsible to perform professional dental care on adults and children; perform oral examinations, diagnosis and treatment planning, provide dental preventive care, restorative dentistry, extractions, root canals, fixed and removable prosthodontics, treat mouth diseases and instruct patients in oral hygiene; prepare and keep clinical records (manual and electronic). Utilizes established dental protocol and procedures as documented in the most current Florida Statutes.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose and treat dental diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums, and related oral structures; Examine patient to determine nature of conditioni, utlizing x-rays, dental intruments, and other diagnostic tools.
- Provide preventive dental services to patient, such as prophylaxis, applications of fluoride and sealants to teeth, and education in oral hygiene.
- Provide instruction on diet, brushing, flossing, the use of fluorides, and other aspects of dental care.
- Administer local anesthetics and write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications; Remove decay and restore teeth.
- Diagnose and treat infections of oral cavity (endodontics or oral surgery); Restore, extract, and replace teeth, to restore function and esthetics (prosthodontics).
- Uses Electronic health record Athena/Dentrix to review medical history, document dental history, and chief complaint, record vital signs, document dental services performed in clinical notes, and maintains patient record at each appointment. Records and reports pertinent observations and patient reactions to dental staff, as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all services rendered in patient chart; Maintain records, prepare reports, and conduct correspondence related to the work.
- Provide consultation and/or expert advice or testimony.
- Provide direct dental supervision to Larkin Community Hospital Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residents within the scope, quality and quantity consistent with the program standards and policies.
- Supervise the development and implementation of dental care plans by AEGD residents; instruct and counsel residents, ascertain resident’s record patient progress.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Dentistry from an accredited school or has completed a post graduate dental program which qualifies to become licensed in the State of Florida.
- Current active Dental License to practice in the State of Florida.
- Current CPR Certification.
- Experience in primary care, public health, or community health preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Handle the information with high level of confidentiality.
