Dock Worker Job Description
Purpose and Scope
Supports Border Valley Trading's mission, vision and core values. Adheres to all BVT Safety policies and procedures and follows all regulatory OHSA and CUPA standards at the local, state and federal levels. BVT Dock Worker primary responsibilities include a broad scope of functions that support the daily operations for BVT's production facility. Dock Workers play a role in ensuring a safe and productive work environment for all employees while maintaining a cost-effective facility meeting the highest standards of ethics, quality and performance.
I/ Key tasks of Dock Worker
Dock Workers Duties and Activities
- Employee is responsible for day-to-day activities that support BVT's production and plant productivity
- Employee must develop and maintain effective relations with coworkers, Supervisors, Managers, Company Owners
- Employees must take initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding production issues.
- Employee must be able to handle prolonged periods of the following activities.
- Sitting 3 – 12 hours per day
- Standing 3 – 12 hours per day
- Walking hours per day
- Bending 3-12 hours per day
- Repetitive Motion 3-12 hours per day
- Work in High Heat Environment – Up to 125 degrees in Summer Months
- 3-12 hours per day
- Lifting items or objects during normal scheduled shift of 5 – 200 pounds.
- Communicate effectively with professionalism and respect with coworkers, Supervisors, Upper Management and Company Principles.
- Employees are expected to arrive and report to work on time, 5-10 minutes prior to their scheduled start time.
- Employee is expected to work entire shift they are scheduled for, unless prior arrangements have been with immediate supervisor to leave prior to end of shift
- Daily responsibilities can include press operation once fully trained.
- Daily responsibilities can include forklift operation once trained and certified.
- Employee's role will include general cleanup of production warehouses, BVT Facility, and nonspecific areas within the facility.
- General Sweeping
- Trash Clean Up
- Product Clean Up
- Production Equipment Clean Up
- General Maintenance includes painting, washing, using compressed air equipment, blowers, etc.
- Employee must ensure that BVT Operations are complying to all county and state regulatory requirements (OSHA, CUPA, Air pollution control)
- Ensures appropriate equipment in place to comply with State, Local and Federal Regulations
- Ensures Facility is kept Clean and Organized to promote Safe work environment
- Complies with Local Facility Inspections and reports work hazards to immediate supervisor
- Employee must report on business compliance issues, safety issues, and employee incident issues to immediate Supervisor
- Employees must ensure that all work-related injuries are reported to direct supervisors immediately upon injury.
- Employee must attend monthly team meetings, goal setting, process implementation and coordination
