Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and responsible Transport Driver to join our team at Border Tails Rescue. The primary responsibility of this role is to safely transport dogs to and from veterinary appointments for surgeries and medical care. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to manage logistics efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport dogs to and from veterinary clinics for surgery and medical appointments.
- Ensure all dogs are secured properly in vehicles to ensure their safety during transport.
- Maintain a calm and reassuring demeanor with animals to minimize stress during travel.
- Communicate effectively with veterinary staff regarding each dog’s needs and appointments.
- Keep accurate records of transport schedules, including pick-up and drop-off times.
- Ensure the vehicle is clean and safe for animal transport.
- Collaborate with the rescue team to coordinate transport schedules and update on the status of each dog.
- Assist with loading and unloading dogs, including any necessary equipment (e.g., crates, leashes).
- Adhere to all safety and health regulations related to animal transport.
- Participate in occasional rescue events or community outreach as needed.
Schedule:
Mondays-Thursdays: 6:30am-9:30am, 2:30pm-5:30pm
Fridays: 6:30am-3:00pm
*Schedule may adjust slightly if we do not have surgeries scheduled on a certain day that week*
Experience
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience with animal handling, particularly dogs, is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Flexible schedule, including availability for early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior and needs is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry dogs and equipment as needed.
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions.
