The National Border Patrol Museum is seeking a highly organized Museum Gift Shop Assistant to efficiently process customer purchases and provide support to the Gift Shop Manager with various duties.
Responsibilities include processing payments (cash & credit), issuing receipts, and shipping orders. This customer service role requires experience with cash registers and meticulous attention to detail.
Ultimately, you’ll ensure all transactions run smoothly and will help us maximize customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Greeting customers as they enter the Museum or Gift Shop.
- Working at the point-of-sale counter to process transactions.
- Assisting customers in locating products by going through the inventory.
- Answer Customer’s questions via email or phone.
- Entering sales data and customer data into the POS database.
- Keeping records of special orders.
- Fulfill Online orders.
- Monitoring the merchandise and notifying the gift shop manager when items need to be restocked.
- Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards.
- Maintain a fully stocked gift shop.
- Actively involved in the receiving of new shipments.
- May be required to work in other areas as needed.
- Keep up to date with product information.
- Follow all Museum policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven working experience in retail sales.
- Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices.
- Knowledge of point-of-sale systems: Shopify and WooCommerce.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer service focus.
- High school degree.
- A professional appearance.
- A friendly and outgoing demeanor.
- Accounting skills: Proficient in point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash register operation.
- Data entry: entering sales and customer data into a database. Quickly and accurately entering information into computers, verifies sales data and edits data inputs so the Museum can keep track of sales and customer data.
Compensation and additional info:
- This is a part-time position of 32 hours a week offering a competitive starting wage of $9 per hour. After a successful 90-day probationary period, the wage increases to $9.50 per hour, with the potential for further growth to $10 per hour after one year
- This position requires a background check upon hire.
