Join our team at the Border Patrol Museum as a Museum Assistant! We're seeking a dedicated individual to contribute to the museum's mission of providing exceptional visitor experiences and supporting administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Visitor Services: Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors and vendors, answering questions about the museum and the U.S. Border Patrol. Conduct tours for schools and organized groups. Assist relatives of fallen officers.
- Administrative Support: Answer incoming phone calls, take and forward messages, manage paperwork, update the museum calendar, respond to inquiries, and provide general office support.
- Operations: Monitor museum security through cameras and personal observation. Ensure compliance with museum policies. Assist staff and the Board of Governors as needed. Sign in and direct community service workers. Assist with daily opening and closing procedures.
- Artifact Support: Assist with basic artifact handling and cataloging as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience in museums, galleries, or educational institutions is preferred but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media.
- Passion for education and a keen interest in history.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Compensation and additional info:
- This is a part-time position of 32 hours a week offering a competitive starting wage of $9 per hour. After a successful 90-day probationary period, the wage increases to $9.50 per hour, with the potential for further growth to $10 per hour after one year
- This position requires a potential background check upon hire.
