Summary
The Security Guard is responsible for sustaining and effective support structure by assisting with the security functions of Boone Memorial Hospital ("BMH"). Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of General Services, the Security staff is responsible for the effective planning, direction and coordination of the security at BMH to meet the hospital's operating needs.

The Security Guard is responsible for sustaining and effective support structure by assisting with the security functions of Boone Memorial Hospital ("BMH"). Essential Functions
- Conduct routine security rounds and ensure all buildings and entrances are secure
- Monitor hospital grounds, parking areas, and public spaces for safety hazards
- Respond to incidents professionally, using de-escalation whenever possible
- Assist with emergency situations, including evacuations and alarms
- Complete detailed daily reports of incidents, hazards, and observations
- Ensure proper lighting, secure access points, and safe conditions at all times
- Provide assistance to patients, visitors, and staff as needed
- Escort employees or visitors upon request for safety
- Support hospital operations by assisting departments when necessary
- Coordinate with local law enforcement when situations require additional support
- Maintain readiness for emergency helicopter landings (Health Flight support)
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions under pressure
- Professional, courteous, and respectful demeanor
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Ability to enforce rules with tact and authority
- Dependability and commitment to maintaining a safe environment
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Previous security experience preferred (2 years)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to perform various motor skills such as walking for long periods of time, standing, lifting (up to 50 pounds)-using proper lifting techniques, sitting, stair climbing, reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, grasping and arm-hand coordination on a continuous basis.
- Ability to communicate on various levels: verbal, telephone and written, to include management reports, visitor, patient and employee levels, writing incident reports and monitor all areas of the hospital.
- Must have sufficient dexterity and mobility to handle equipment efficiently and safely.
- Must be mentally alert and able to exercise solid judgement and assertive in job duties.
