Duties
- Greet customers warmly, listen to their interests, and recommend books tailored to their preferences
- Maintain organized shelves by stocking new arrivals, restocking popular titles, and ensuring attractive displays through merchandising
- Operate the cash register efficiently, handling retail sales transactions with accuracy using POS systems
- Assist with inventory management by stock counting, tracking stock levels, and processing stock transfers or returns
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions about store products, policies, and upcoming events
- Support promotional activities such as upselling related items or store memberships to enhance customer experience
Skills
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued for serving diverse communities
- Knowledge of retail math for accurate cash handling, balancing cash drawers, and processing transactions efficiently
- Familiarity with retail store product knowledge across books, stationery, or related merchandise
- Previous retail experience is advantageous but not required
