Job Summary
Prepress Operator II is a print file technology expert, who reviews customer-supplied PDF docs to evaluate print readiness, identify potential production problems and recommend course of action to Customer Service Representative (CSR), and who performs any customer-approved file adjustments. Prepress Operator II works closely with Production and Prepress supervisors to diagnose and resolve printing issues.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
· Read work orders and Preflight reports to determine if supplied print files conform to manufacturing specifications
· Identify potential print problems
· Communicate preflight warnings and errors to CSR
· Adjust files per customer instructions
· Perform advanced troubleshooting
· Maintain good relationship with Prepress personnel and other internal customers
· Serve as alternating point of contact for weekend production questions
Qualifications
· Advanced knowledge of Acrobat Pro and PitStop
· Understanding of good color management practices
· Familiar with standard desktop Publishing software and fonts
· Detail-oriented
· Good organizational and time-management skills
· Able to work both independently and as an effective team member
· Experience with imposition software a plus
Ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in color printing and book production and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Duties
Operator will follow other job-related instructions and duties as requested by department supervisor.
