What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics/Materials Coordinator position at Books for Collier Kids?
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Logistics/Materials Coordinator to support the operations of our book distribution. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and efficient yearly flow of 200,000 new books to children in Collier County from purchase, storage and delivery to school warehouse and recipient agencies. Books for Collier Kids’ Book Distribution Chair will select and order books through-out the year for delivery to recipient agencies and to our warehouse in Naples, FL. The Logistics/Materials Coordinator will manage all inbound and outbound transactions through from orders, coordinating with schools/agencies, suppliers, warehouses, CCPS, partner agencies, overseeing inventory entry and reporting, and reconciliations, review book orders and shipping documents, verify deliveries as ordered, and process invoices for payment. Currently, Books for Collier Kids uses Microsoft Excel for record-keeping and will be researching/selecting an online logistics/inventory management database to streamline and simplify the process of inventory management and distribution.
This is a hands-on position focused on coordination and execution, not analytics or supply chain modeling. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys problem-solving, is open-minded, flexible and values accuracy and organization.
Required Qualifications:
• 2 years in logistics, supply chain, or inventory coordination.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with materials management software/inventory management; computer savvy.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational/documentation skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively to resolve new inventory issues.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5 years of logistics/supply chain experience.
Work Environment:
• Home office-based, requiring multi-tasking and high level of accuracy.
• Flexible work schedule—estimated time required is 8 hours/week varying from little work per week to 16-24 hours/week six-eight times per year.
• May require occasional communication outside regular business hours to resolve urgent logistics issues; will also require being onsite at warehouse and CCPS warehouse during week days(typically Thursday and Friday) six-eight times per year.
• Ability to lift/move cartons of books (about 20-30 lbs.)
Work Location: In person at warehouses and remote from home office.
Compensation & Benefits: Independent contractor (1099), part time/ estimated average 8 hours/week varying from little work to 16-24 hours/week six-eight times/year; compensation negotiable
