A well-established, locally-owned law firm in the East Islip area is seeking a Family Law Attorney to join its growing practice. The firm has a strong reputation in the local community and handles a steady flow of family law matters.
The firm is open to attorneys at different stages of their careers. Candidates with family law experience or other related experience are encouraged to apply, but the firm is also willing to train and mentor a new attorney who has a genuine interest in developing a long-term career in family law. Responsibilities
- Handle family law matters including divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, domestic violence proceedings, and adoption
- Manage cases from intake through resolution, including court appearances, conferences, motion practice, and settlement negotiations
- Draft pleadings, motions, stipulations, and settlement agreements
- Provide thoughtful and strategic guidance to clients navigating complex and sensitive personal matters
- Work collaboratively with attorneys and staff to move cases forward efficiently
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school or ability to obtain
- Active New York Bar License, sitting for the 2026 Bar Exam, or awaiting results
- Prior family law experience or exposure is preferred but not required
- Interest in building a career focused on family law
- Strong writing, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
