Duties
- Serve as the primary point of contact for victims and witnesses, providing clear information about their rights and available resources.
- Facilitate communication between victims/witnesses and law enforcement agencies, legal teams, and support services.
- Provide appropriate referrals to social service agencies and other area resources throughout the criminal justice process.
- Assist with scheduling court appearances, accompany victims/witnesses to proceedings when necessary, and prepare them for what to expect during legal processes.
- Maintain victim/witness case file to document case activities and status.
- Maintain compliance with the Victim-Witness Bill of Rights under the Illinois Constitution.
- Assist and provide support to victims regarding civil and/or criminal protective orders.
- Prepare grant applications and quarterly and annual progress reports.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders including law enforcement, legal professionals, families, and community organizations.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to manage crises efficiently while providing emotional support during stressful moments.
