What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator, BOND Civil & Utility, Manhattan, NY position at BOND Civil & Utility Construction?
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop experience to determine what types of projects to bid, strategies and techniques
- Assist in review of estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation
- Participate in presentations to corporate management and clients
- Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc., as required
- May assist in the preparation of studies, materials, methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required
- Procure pricing form subcontractors and material vendors
- Pick up plans and specifications, attend pre-bid meetings and deliver proposals
- Perform quantity take-off
- Assist with collecting cost data to be used as a reference in future estimates
Qualifications:
- BS. in civil engineering or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or equivalent experience
- A thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques is required
- Knowledge of construction contracts is a must
- Excellent organizational, supervisory and decision-making and problem-solving skills are essential
- Experience in construction estimating and related functions preferred
- Experience with heavy civil and utility construction including public works (airport, transit and bridges), gas and electrical transmission, energy plant construction is a plus
- Fluency in HCSS Heavy Bid Software preferred
Benefits:
- Base salary between $130,000 - $165,000.
- Annual bonus.
