Certified Lactation Consultant - Mother and Baby Unit - St. Francis Eastside - PRN
Job Summary
The Lactation Consultant's primary focus is the provision of education, assistance, and support of breastfeeding for women and children. The Lactation Consultant functions as a member of the health care team to promote, support, and protect breastfeeding.
Essential Functions
- Collects, interprets, and applies data collected from breastfeeding patient to provide appropriate interventions to meet patient’s needs
- Identifies and intervenes to address patient and family need for lactation support and educational needs
- Acts as the leader and mentors other team members in lactation
- Works toward the improvement of lactation services through continuing education offers to the staff of Perinatal services
- Participates in the unit-based PI program and adheres to required patient care standards for the assigned area
- Other duties as assigned
- Associates or Bachelors in a healthcare related field (required)
- Bachelors of Science, Nursing (preferred)
- International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) (required and must be maintained)
- One (1) year of RN experience in a hospital setting working with postpartum breastfeeding mothers (preferred, not required)
- EPIC Electronic Health Record training (required)
