Mercy Health’s General Thoracic Surgery Service Line in Cincinnati, OH is recruiting a thoracic surgeon to join a busy, collaborative team at the region’s largest health system. Surgeons will practice at Mercy Health hospitals equipped with state-of-the-art ORs, hybrid rooms, and an experienced support team including dedicated CNPs, PAs, RNs, nurse navigators, and lung navigators.
Clinical responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive general thoracic and foregut care, including esophagectomies, lung resections, chest wall and mediastinal surgery, thymectomy, anti-reflux and paraesophageal hernia repairs, and management of esophageal perforations.
- Perform endoscopic and interventional procedures such as esophageal stenting, dilations, TIF, LINX, and diagnostic/interventional bronchoscopies.
- Participate in lung screening, nodule board, and thoracic tumor board discussions; maintain proficiency in minimally invasive and advanced approaches to the chest and foregut.
- Share call on a 1:2 rotation and collaborate closely with an experienced thoracic surgeon as part of the General Thoracic and Foregut Service Line (GTFS).

- The GTFS participates in the STS Database for quality benchmarking, is GO2 Foundation certified, and collaborates with the American Foregut Society and ACOS INCP accreditation program.
- Mercy Health maintains an established lung cancer screening pathway and active thoracic and nodule boards, with growing remote- and AI-enabled capabilities.
- Large regional referral networks include over 160 employed primary care providers, multiple pulmonologists, the largest oncology group in Cincinnati, and a broad primary care and GI market for foregut referrals.
Qualifications
- Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery with training in general thoracic and foregut surgery.
