Job Summary
Friendsview Retirement Community is located in Newberg, OR. There are 600 residents spread across campus in independent living housing, assisted living, and memory care facilities, as well as internal catering. There is a main kitchen that serves as the hub for five other kitchens that serve the different communities. There is also a Bistro that serves residents and the public, and is responsible for our external catering as well. We have a team of roughly 40 BOH employees serving around 350 meals per day throughout our various locations. There are residents with dietary needs including low sodium, mechanical soft diets, and other considerations as well. We are looking for an experienced and organized chef who can effectively manage multiple locations, create nutritious, flavorful and exciting menus from scratch on a weekly basis, and adhere to safety standards and regulatory surveys.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plans regular and modified menus according to established guidelines
- Trains kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, and operation of equipment, food safety and sanitation based on Company and regulatory standards
- Establishes and maintains cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage and work areas
- Maintains inventory of food and non-food supplies to stay within established guidelines while assuring that necessary product is available when needed
- Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
- A.S. or equivalent experience
- Three to five years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
- Experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet
- Extensive catering experience a plus
- High volume, complex foodservice operations experience - highly desirable
- ServSafe certified – highly desirable
