Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC Design)

Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Metairie, LA

Position Overview: A Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for complete system design from conceptual level to production design of Marine Ventilation and Air Conditioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Must have knowledge of marine insulation, machinery ventilation, and air conditioning.
• Perform necessary calculations to validate design and submit required reports to classification society and/or customer.
• Must have the ability to use computer-assisted engineering software to design products or systems.
• Ability to support all production and testing activities.
  
  

Experience

• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equal and have a minimum of 5 -7 years of shipyard or marine HVAC design experience.
• Must have basic computer skills using Microsoft applications (i.e., MS Excel, MS Word) and AutoCAD.
• Equipment selection and incorporation of ventilation and cooling systems for complete design of vessels.
• Military or government design experience with supporting calculations/design reviews.
• Knowledge of SNAME 4-16, ASHRAE, or similar design criteria.
  
  

Skills And Abilities

• Must be self-motivated and exhibit excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with CFR, ABS, NVIC, SOLAS, and USCG rules and regulations for mechanical systems along with other applicable regulations.
