What are the responsibilities and job description for the GENERAL FOREMAN/ SUPERVISOR - TEST & TRIALS position at BOLLINGER MISSISSIPPI SHIPBUILDING LLC?
GENERAL FUNCTION: Directs multiple production phases within Company and ensures production budget and project schedules are met. Supervises Foremen and/or Lead Worker Supervisors. Performs under the general direction of Superintendent.
TYPICAL DUTIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
•Advises foremen regarding supervision of lead workers and/or employees.
•Ensures safe working conditions in production areas. Assists supervisors in conducting safety meetings.
•Reviews project specifications and engineering drawings and provides input for project build strategies and project schedules.
•Reviews work stations to ensure proper resources are available for workforce to work in the most efficient manner and production performance indicators are being meet.
•Coordinates work assignments with foremen to ensure workforce is deployed effectively.
•Reviews employee performance and provides necessary training needed to enhance employee skills and productivity.
•Monitors project budgets and schedule performance and provides input for project cost.
•Ensures quality of department products, drawing adherence, procedure adherence and quality objectives are meet.
•Coordinates with superintendent and quality control manager to ensure product compliance with company standards and specifications.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Comprehensive knowledge of specific area of responsibility (i.e. electrical, welding).
•Considerable knowledge of maritime operations and company policies and procedures.
•Ability to comprehend project contracts, specifications, schedules, work plans, and engineering drawings.
•Ability to manage departmental budgets and work schedules.
•Must be able to overcome obstacles and complete assignments timely.
EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: High school diploma or GED with minimum of three years’ production supervisory experience required. Five years’ production supervision and Microsoft Office experience preferred.
