Job Summary:
- Assist in the care of patients by continual surveillance of electronic monitors in a centralized telemetry monitoring station
Essential Functions:
To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Maintain all logbooks for Telemetry Monitors and ICU patients and reconcile all monitors each shift.
- Continuous observation of the patient's cardiac rhythm.
- Records monitor tracings at predetermined intervals, and any time change in rhythm, or change in patient condition.
- Notify unit nurse, and/or charge nurse of any changes noted on monitor and document notation.
- Maintains accurate and continued documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes.
- Documentation meets current standards and policies.
- Maintains Telemetry monitors, reports monitors needing repair, loose electrodes, battery failure or poor transmission of tracing.
- Maintains batteries for Telemetry monitors.
- Keep monitor station clean and orderly at all times.
- Constance awareness of patient condition and whereabouts when patient is out of the unit.
- Answer telephone/intercom in a polite manner and communicate information to the appropriate personnel.
- Performs other reasonably related job duties as assigned or requested, within scope of practice.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Ensures supplies are adequately stocked and organized.
- Ensures equipment is operating safely and correctly.
- Responsible for housekeeping, maintaining department/facility cleanliness and safety, as needed.

- Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
- Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or equivalent, is preferred

Required Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.

- Requirements will include successful completion of orientation checklist and skills/credentials/competency requirements of specific area of work
- Demonstrates competency in interpreting dysrhythmias

- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task, while demonstrating proficient time management skills

- Must be flexible, able to work as needed for appropriate departmental coverage
- Basic computer knowledge; become proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security
