Lead Carpenter

Job Summary

BoldRoot Builders is seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our growing residential construction team. This is a hands-on leadership position for a skilled craftsman who takes pride in producing high-quality work, leading by example, and delivering an exceptional experience for our clients. Our projects include custom remodels, additions, decks, garages, kitchens, bathrooms, structural renovations, and other residential construction throughout Northern Vermont.

As a Lead Carpenter, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities on the job site, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, maintaining project schedules, ensuring work meets our quality standards, and mentoring apprentices and carpenters. You should be comfortable working independently, solving problems in the field, communicating with homeowners professionally, and performing a wide variety of carpentry tasks while maintaining a safe and organized job site.

Duties

• Lead residential construction projects from start to finish while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency.
• Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and layouts.
• Coordinate daily job site activities to keep projects on schedule.
• Supervise, train, and mentor carpenters, apprentices, and laborers.
• Perform layout, framing, structural work, finish carpentry, and general construction tasks.
• Install windows, doors, siding, roofing, cabinetry, trim, flooring, and other finish materials.
• Complete remodeling, additions, decks, garages, and other custom residential projects.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and homeowners throughout the project.
• Identify and resolve field issues while maintaining project quality and timelines.
• Manage materials and equipment for assigned projects.
• Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Perform quality control inspections to ensure work meets company standards and building codes.
• Complete daily project documentation, including progress updates and material tracking.
• Represent BoldRoot Builders with professionalism, integrity, and exceptional customer service.
• Perform additional duties as needed to ensure successful project completion.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of residential construction experience, including framing and finish carpentry.
• Previous experience leading crews or managing residential job sites preferred.
• Strong knowledge of residential building methods, materials, and building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and common construction equipment.
• Ability to safely operate equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, and telehandlers is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs., climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• Must be dependable, punctual, self-motivated, and committed to producing high-quality work.
