This RN pathway offers mentorship, shadowing, and targeted training for nurses interested in critical care within the Medicine MICU/SDU.
Under supervision, RNs assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, providing supervision to non-RN staff and covering multiple units as needed.
Responsibilities include ongoing patient assessment, developing individualized care plans, coordinating care with the team, evaluating patient responses, and educating patients and families.
Additional duties encompass serving as a preceptor and charge nurse, demonstrating neuro-specific skills (assessment, airway management, ventilator care, and neuro procedures), and ensuring smooth unit operations.
Qualifications include a graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred), valid Connecticut RN license, proficiency with electronic records, and BLS certification.
