Job Overview
The Director of Finance is responsible for the overall financial management and strategic financial planning of the company. This role provides leadership, direction, and oversight of all financial activities including accounting, budgeting, payroll, financial reporting, and compliance. The Director of Finance ensures the financial health and sustainability of the organization, supports the executive team with data-driven decision-making, and maintains the integrity of all financial systems and controls.
Duties
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain accurate job budgets.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
- Complete monthly financial close and reconcile all account balances.
- Prepare, analyze, and present detailed financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to the President and General Manager.
- Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Manage cash flow to maintain liquidity and overall financial stability.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports and provide supporting documentation to external accountants for annual tax filings.
- Supervise the Business Accounting Coordinator and Payroll & HR Administrator.
- Establish clear goals, expectations, and performance metrics for the finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the department.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management, including supervisory experience.
- Extensive knowledge of financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and reporting practices.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS) and regulatory compliance standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively while fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data into strategic insights.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting financial information clearly to all levels.
- Experience with Team Financial Software preferred, but not required.
