Job Description:
The Service Electrician will possess extensive knowledge of the electrical industry. Successfully engaging in multiple markets and areas of expertise is critical for the Service Electrician. It is expected that the Service Electrician will have a thorough understanding of electrical systems up to 600 volts, communications wiring, and fire alarm systems. Training and field experience will improve areas of weakness over time. The electrical industry is constantly evolving, and adapting to these changes is crucial. Curiosity is a required trait.
In addition to trade knowledge, the Service Electrician should have strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to convey situation reports to the management team and the client is of the utmost importance. Must be comfortable with technology, using an iPad, laptop, etc.
Responsibilities and Capabilities
- Responsible for an assigned company vehicle and issued tools and equipment residing in the vehicle. BEC will provide service vehicles, ladders, benders, and testing equipment, i.e., multi-meters, megameters, fault identifiers, network testing equipment, etc.
- Expected to maintain a safe and clean work environment for him/herself and assigned apprentice when applicable.
- Accurately report work performed and materials used for repairs and alterations.
- BEC will provide an iPad to digitally track time on projects, materials, work summaries, purchase orders, etc.
- Must have the ability to make decisions to complete projects as changes arise. At the same time, maintain communication with the service manager and clients.
- The employee must provide hand tools.
- Scheduling will be made available digitally via time-tracking applications with an integrated calendar. Additionally, text message reminders will be sent out the evening before scheduled work orders to be completed with a start time.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Journeyman Electrician License in MA and NH
- Minimum OSHA10
- CORI to receive the Massachusetts “S” License.
- Valid Driver’s License in MA and NH
- Ability to communicate verbally with management, employees, and clients when necessary.
- Ability to describe project progress on work orders.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Familiar with the use of a tablet for plan management, documentation, and completion of reports, etc.
- Ability to lift a weight of 50 pounds
- Ability to perform work on step ladders, scissor lifts, aerial boom lifts, etc.
Preferred Experience and Certifications
- Journeyman License in Maine, Connecticut
- OSHA 30, and additional Safety Training Certificates
- Experience in basic commercial electrical controls, Lighting, Relays, etc.
- Conventional Fire Alarm Systems
- Addressable Fire Alarm Systems
- Data and Voice Communications
- HVAC Control Wiring, Furnaces, Air Handlers, Boilers, etc.
- Exterior Lighting, knowledge of HID, Fluorescent, and LED lighting configurations
- Video Surveillance Systems
- Access Control
