About Us
We are a well-established commercial fencing and fabrication contractor with over 25 years in business, performing large commercial construction projects for federal, state, and national contractors.
We are seeking an experienced Construction Bookkeeper / Project Billing Specialist who can step in and contribute immediately. This role supports construction billing, certified payroll, job costing, and Work in Progress (WIP) tracking in a fast-paced commercial construction environment.
This position requires prior construction bookkeeping or construction billing experience including pay applications, certified payroll, and job costing.
Must Have Experience
Applicants should have experience with most of the following:
- Construction bookkeeping or construction billing
- Construction pay applications (AIA / progress billing)
- Certified payroll / prevailing wage reporting
- Work in Progress (WIP) tracking or reporting
- QuickBooks Enterprise
- Construction job costing
Applicants without construction accounting experience will not be considered.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit construction pay applications (AIA / progress billing)
- Process and maintain certified payroll for prevailing wage projects
- Maintain financial records using QuickBooks Enterprise
- Track job costs and assist with commission reporting
- Assist with Work in Progress (WIP) tracking in coordination with estimators and management
- Manage accounts receivable and billing
- Assist with accounts payable as needed
- Maintain project documentation including lien waivers and compliance documents
- Reconcile accounts and assist with monthly financial reporting
- Answer phones and assist with general office support as needed
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of construction bookkeeping or construction billing experience
- Experience with pay applications and certified payroll
- Experience using QuickBooks Enterprise
- Strong understanding of job costing
- Familiarity with WIP concepts (over/under billing, percent complete)
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with federal or state construction projects
- Familiarity with Davis-Bacon / prevailing wage reporting
- Experience working with commercial contractors
Compensation
$32 – $38 per hour (depending on experience)
Expected hours: 40 per week
