Load Planner

About the Role

Bohren Logistics is hiring a Load Planner to manage freight planning for a dedicated fleet of 20-30 drivers. This is a forward-planning role — you'll build 1-3 day load assignments, source backhauls out of key markets, and keep trucks moving profitably, not just reactively dispatching whatever comes in.

What You'll Do

• Build rolling 24-72 hour load assignments for an assigned group of 30-35 drivers, sequenced around each driver's home-time schedule and pay structure
• Evaluate every marginal load against a cost/revenue model before accepting it — this is a numbers-first planning role, not load-board guessing
• Proactively source backhaul freight in advance of trucks arriving in weaker-freight markets, rather than scrambling after the fact
• Coordinate with our brokerage partners when internal freight can't fill a lane
• Track and own your own performance metrics: empty mile percentage, revenue per truck, on-time pickup/delivery, and load acceptance quality
• Escalate non-standard situations (rate exceptions, capacity gaps, HOS conflicts) to the Operations Manager

What We're Looking For

• 2 years of experience in truckload dispatch or load planning
• Experience sourcing backhauls and building lanes proactively — not just filling inbound loads reactively
• Comfort working with a cost/rate acceptance model rather than dispatching purely on relationships or instinct
• Working knowledge of FMCSA Hours of Service regulations
• Strong communication skills — you'll be the daily point of contact for a consistent group of drivers
• TMS and dispatch software experience preferred

Pay: $51,661.31 - $62,215.77 per year
